Objectives

We seek to enrich your spiritual life & insights.  These studies will probably both challenge & confirm your thinking, hopefully deepening it along the way.  They can also help empower you to good works and spiritual direction.  At a simple level, Joe & Jane may sit in pews for years and never input their church or community, feeling too small.  Doing theology empowers them to be more interactive, and their church takes notice: gaining knowledge can be like watering a sleeping cactus – see the flowers come out!  Some may even move into community & church leadership.  But may Joe & Jane awaken unto God’s glory, not their own egos.  At a simpler level, they might receive answers to personal questions they have had for years – theology gives truth answers.

Some will take the course because, already active, they seek better empowerment.  Some might take the course as outsiders to Christianity, seeking to examine it from the inside.  To all, welcome.

On a more general note, these studies are academic.  This means training in basic areas of thinking, of logic, of seeking, processing, & combining, information.

They can sharpen your mind and help keep it sharp.  Proverbs speaks of skills.  Clear & wide thinking is one such skill, a part of loving God (Dt.6:5; Mk.12:30) and growing in revelation (2 Pt.3:18).  Each Semester Credit Hours (SCH) assumes three hour mix of reading, research, & writing, over six days, so commit to learning.
We seek to please God and be a community service offering light.
